About Us

Ananda Farm began in the gardens of the Ananda Community in Lynnwood. Two courageous residents started a CSA, and people joined! Interest and support grew, and eventually 25 individuals pooled resources to purchase land on Camano Island in December 2012. The farm is a beautiful 14 acres of garden orchards, alpaca meadow, and native forest.

Our hope as a yoga farm and homestead are to live and farm harmoniously with Nature, and to provide prana-filled food and basic needs for simple living, for ourselves and growing community of friends and neighbors. The gardens are tended by hand and heart. Using no-till, organic practices, we grow vegetables, herbs, and fruit. We graft a variety of fruit trees every spring and look forward to future nursery offerings. In the spirit of self-reliance and craft culture, we create botanical home remedies as well as practical, uplifting products; from first-aid spray and toothpowder, to soy candles, alpaca dryer balls and meditation rugs.

At the heart of the farm we follow the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi. Centered in the daily practice of meditation, we strive to apply the universal spiritual principles of Yoga in all our areas of service at the farm.

We view our work as service and see the farm as a Natural Farm. ‘Natural Farming’  is a direction of agriculture which seeks to unite lifestyle and food cultivation with Spirit and the natural world, for we are a part of all that is.
